Design. Build. Sustain.

Green roofs are dynamic, living systems. Our process is dynamic as well, driven by our goal to realize each client’s vision. As a full service WBE Certified firm, we have provided our clients with consultation, design assistance, project management, installation and maintenance expertise since 2008. We approach each project with a holistic understanding of how these systems function over time, allowing us to succeed at any stage in its development from concept, through establishment, and into maturity.  Collaborating with owners, architects, landscape architects, engineers, developers, general contractors, roofers, community organizations, institutions and manufacturers, we provide services that act as a force of change in the green building movement to redefine the skyline into a more livable, efficient and sustainable part of the city.

DESIGN CONSULTATION

Landscape possibilities using green roofs are virtually limitless and can be intended for environmental best management practices and/or recreation. Our background in building and maintaining green roofs drives our approach as consultants. We have strong connections with green roof and waterproofing system providers both locally and nationally and strive to stay current on available technologies and incentives. This allows us to bring the best application and products to meet project requirements, including structural capacity, budget, climate, site conditions, and ongoing maintenance. We believe in a collaborative approach with owners, architects, landscape architects, and engineering firms. Whether designing customized, integrated landscapes that reflect unique tastes and performance goals or providing technical design assistance via detail drawings and specifications, it is our intent to ensure green roofs are not just beautiful but also well-crafted and easily maintained.

BID

No two construction projects are alike, but fixed-price agreements are an efficient means to establish expectations that will meet the needs of all parties involved. Whether we receive high-level concepts for budget or fully-developed plan sets with detailed specifications, New York Green Roofs performs due diligence to ensure a project is a not only a good fit, but that all aspects of the plan, details, site conditions, structural load capacity, logistics and delivery, and desired landscape’s performance metrics have been considered so that each project can be delivered on budget.

BUILD

Our team is highly experienced in creating urban gardens and is committed to working with general contractors, construction managers, and parallel trades to provide successful projects. With in-house OSHA certified construction expertise spanning traditional, modular, and pre-vegetated green roofs, irrigation systems, paver and pedestal systems, custom and prefabricated planters, carpentry, and horticulture, our installation work is collaborative and based on a wealth of practical knowledge. Additionally, as needed, we call on proven subcontractors we trust to achieve the high standards we demand. We use shop drawings, submittals and RFIs during the pre-construction phase to ensure the design on paper translates to the built project on site, guaranteeing our installations are beautiful, practical, long-lasting, and delivered on-time, every time.

MAINTAIN

Maintenance is just as important to the success of landscapes as the design and construction. Our customized maintenance plans are tailored to site-specific conditions and respond to changing needs throughout the life cycle of each garden.  Ongoing services may include inspecting the roof membrane and drains, weeding, pruning, feeding, keeping non-veg zones clean, adjusting irrigation seasonally, managing low-voltage lighting systems, and performing plant selection to preserve the desired aesthetic. We are also available to assist with rehabilitation of existing green roofs and can implement strategies for long-term care. Reflecting our commitment to the environment, we take an organic approach to maintenance wherever possible, composting all garden debris, and limiting the use of large trucks and heavy machinery to ensure our practices are as healthy for the environment as the green roofs we care for.
